How Go Signal works
The wait before the circle is anywhere from one to four seconds and changes every time, so you cannot tap on rhythm. A tap before the circle, or within 0.12 seconds of it, does not count and costs a life. On early levels the circle always shows in one place. Later it shows in one of four places, and sometimes a square appears instead, which you must not tap.
After each hit the game shows your time in milliseconds. Faster taps earn more points. You can tap with a finger or a mouse, or press Space or Enter on a keyboard. Pick one and keep it when you compare results, since each has its own delay.
Why reaction times vary between devices
A reaction time in the browser includes the delay of your screen, your touch panel or mouse, and the browser itself. That delay differs between devices, which is why the same person gets different numbers on a phone and on a laptop. One of the articles below explains where these milliseconds come from.
Tiredness, a missed signal or a distracting room change the result too. So compare your time with your own best on the same device, not with averages from other sites. It also helps to play three or four rounds and look at the middle result rather than the single fastest one.
