How Word Grid works

The board is a grid of letters. Drag across letters that touch, sideways or diagonally, to make a word. Each cell counts once per word, though the same letter may sit in two cells. On a keyboard you can type the word and press Enter instead.

Longer words add more time and more points. A word that is not in the word list costs a life, and you have three. The grid grows from 3×3 to 5×5, and on later levels you need more words and each word must be longer.

On levels 1 to 6 the shortest allowed word has three letters, on levels 7 to 12 four, and on levels 13 to 15 five. On the early levels a three-letter word puts a couple of seconds back on the clock. A long word puts back much more, so it pays to look for long words early.

Two languages, two word lists

The game uses the word list of the interface language. The English and Ukrainian versions each have their own list, so a round in one language is not a translation of the other. The Ukrainian list holds about 34,700 nouns in the nominative singular, such as кіт or море, and its grid has no letter ґ and no words with an apostrophe. What the points mean

Your score counts the words you found in this round. It is not a vocabulary test, and we do not promise that playing will grow your vocabulary. Results and bests will be saved in the browser or in Telegram, and each round is compared only with your own best.
