Memory games for adults online

Three short games where you see something for a moment and then repeat it. They will open in the browser without an account, and levels 1 to 5 are free.

Games

The three games

In Grid Trail cards on a grid light up one by one, and you tap the same cards in the same order. The sequence grows from 3 to 8 cards, and on some levels you tap it backwards, starting from the last card shown.

Button Chain is a sequence you repeat, with one more button every round. The board grows from 4 to 9 buttons, and on later levels the buttons change places after the show, so you follow the numbers, not the positions.

Hidden Numbers shows numbers on tiles for a moment. You remember where each one was, and once they hide, you tap them in order from the smallest. It starts with 3 numbers and ends with 9 that vanish in less than half a second.

What the points mean

All three games are built on classic memory tasks from psychology, but here they are games. How far you get shows how you did in this game today. It does not show how good your memory is in daily life, and we do not promise that playing will improve it.

Results change with sleep, noise and the device in your hand. Compare a round with your own earlier rounds on the same device, not with numbers you read somewhere else. One weak round does not say much on its own.

How to play them

Say the order to yourself while it plays, or group the items in twos and threes. Both tricks work in all three games, and the articles below go into more detail. A round takes one to three minutes, so a few rounds fit into a short break.

Grid Trail asks for the order of the flashes, on some levels backwards. Hidden Numbers asks where each number stood. Button Chain asks for the order too, but the buttons move after the show. It is common for one of the three to feel much harder than the others. That is normal, since each game asks you to remember something different.
